I know we just discussed non-fiction books, but let's not forget the wonderful series books available. I particularly like those combining fact and fiction, such as the Adventures of Riley series by Lumry, Captain Fact by Knife and Packer, Explorers Wanted by Chapman, and Mysteries in our National Parks by National Geographic. I find these books present credible scientific information in a very digestible form. They are also popular with school librarians and teachers.
Adding to the Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys debate, our store sells very few of the original series, but we have found the graphic novel form of these books to be popular. No, they aren't exactly like those first published, but they have the same characters and the plots are similar.
