[CCBC-Net] series not mentioned yet

This topic has sure touched a chord with people.

I'm curious about the continuing popularity of two series I haven't seen mentioned yet, the Narnia Chronicles and the Little House on the Prairie books.

I must have read the Little House books about 9 times each. Laura moved a lot. So did my family. I really related to her, even though she was born 100 years before I was.

I remember reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe as a kid. At the time I loved series books, but I didn't read any more Narnia books. Couldn't tell you why exactly but I bet it was because there wasn't just one character that I related to and wanted to revisit.

As an adult I thought I'd give the Narnia Chronicles another try but couldn't get past the first one (I think it was published and/or written after LWW, but in the chronology of the story it comes first). Too much religious symbolism for my taste.
