Series that kids read: Series of Unfortunate Events Tintin Harry Potter Wizard of Oz
I am in charge of a 2000 book youth library whose readers have worn out the first set of Series of Unfortunate Events which have been replaced with a second set.
They have nearly worn out the Tintin books which need replacing. It is not unusual to walk into the library and see a child lounging in one of the bean bag chairs reading Tintin.
They all like Harry Potter and some go for Wizard of Oz. I had one little girl who read all 14 Oz books several times.
I very recently introduced the Shredderman mysteries and the Sammy Keyes mysteries that I enjoyed very much. I'm waiting for feedback.
On re-reading this list, I just realized that all of the youthful main characters in these books are orphans or without parents. In all of these series, I believe my readers like the resourceful, adventuresome main characters and enjoy spending time hanging out with them.
