I, too, have very much enjoyed reading everyone's recommendations. I'd like to add one I don't think is on the list so far -- THE GRUFFALO by Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Axel Scheffler. My 18- month-old nephew couldn't get enough of this one -- over and over and over again! It was delightful!
