In a rare joint appearance, esteemed authors- Gregory Maguire, David Macaulay, Katherine Paterson, M.T. Anderson, Patricia MacLachlan, Susan Cooper, Steven Kellogg, Natalie Babbitt, Fredrick and Patricia McKissack, and David Wiesner-will appear onstage together Saturday, December 10, 2005, discussing writing, books, art, reading rights, and citizen activism. This unique event, "In Celebration of Books, Writing, and Art," moderated by *National Children's Book and Literacy Alliance *President Mary Brigid Barrett, and sponsored by the Mount Holyoke College English Department, will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 PM in Chapin Auditorium at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA. All proceeds from this event will benefit the National Children's Book and Literacy Alliance (NCBLA), a 501C3 not-for profit which advocates for literacy, literature, libraries, the arts, citizen activism, and reading rights.
