Thanks for the suggestion of Look Look! I will have to seek that one out. Today, I just saw Linenthal's Look at the Animals, due out in 2006, which is also quite wonderful.

I'm enjoying this discussion. I'm a retired children's librarian and volunteer with Baby Talk, an early literacy collaboration. Many of my favorite books have been mentioned. Another good high contrast board book for very young babies is Look Look! by Peter Linenthal (Dutton, 1998). The black and white images are bold, simple without being boring.
