I would like to add Rosen/Oxenbury's "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" to this conversation. I have enjoyed many good storytimes with babies listening to and toddlers making the "squishy-squashy" sounds, etc. that are part of this familiar story. And, if children learn the story as babies, they'll be ahead of their friends at summer camp when it comes time to sing the story around the campfire!
