Book Fest, The New York Public Library's annual conference about books for children and teens will take place on October 22 at the Bartos Forum (Fifth Avenue & 42nd Street) from 10 a.,. to 4 p.m. Mo Willems will be the keynote speaker, followed by book discussions and an afternoon panel with Ann M. Martin, Joan Bauer and Rachel Vail. The registration fee is $55 which includes morning coffee/tea, lunch and afternoon sherry. You may also register on-line at http://www.nypl.org/events/bookfest.html and mail a check/money order by October 11 to the Office of Young Adult Services - - Book Fest, The New York Public Library, 455 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10016.
The 2005 Anne Carroll Moore Lecture will take place on Monday, November 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Donnell Library Center, 20 W. 53rd St., New York, NY. Mordicai Gerstein, winner of the 2004 Caldecott medal, will speak on the topic, "What's the Story?" The annual publication Children's Books 2005: One Hundred Titles for Reading and Sharing will be available. Guests are invited to the Central Children's Room, second floor, to examine these books on exhibit and have coffee beginning at 10:00 a.m. Selections of original art from the titles on the list will also be on display. No R.S.V.P. is necessary.
