The Jane Addams Children's Book Awards Committee is currently considering books published in 2005, in the United States. These awards, sponsored by the Jane Addams Peace Association, are given annually to books that most effectively promote the causes of peace, social justice, world community, and the equality of the sexes and all races, as well as meeting conventional standards of excellence. Awards are given in two categories: Books for Younger Children and Books for Older Children (ages 2-12). Please send, by December 31, 2005, two copies of any book that you believe meets these criteria to the JACBA committee chair: Donna Barkman, 1 Reservoir Road, Ossining NY 10562. For more information about the Jane Addams Peace Association, check the website: www.janeaddamspeace.org. Thank you for your interest!
