A colleague of mine, who teaches in the Political Science department, called to ask how she and her students could be involved in getting books to kids in the gulf states. I passed on to her some the information in recent digests of this list, ways to help get books to kids right now.
Her students' original idea was to help with the rebuilding of school library collections that have been wiped out or damaged by flooding. I don't know if anyone is addressing this yet. If anyone on this list would like to hook her up with someone who is, Melanie Williams can be reached at mew2 at humboldt.edu.
