Hello ccbc'ers-----

This email is essentially a plea for any suggestions or advice you might have on implementing a school library. A group of my colleagues and I are going to be volunteering with a local public elementary school that does not have a librarian. They do have a room that is designated as a library; however, it lacks kid-friendly furniture, shelves, and books with a publication date after the mid-1970s.

Fortunately, the school has received two grants for shelving and for books, although we don't know the quality of the books or the titles yet. The school is PreK through sixth grade and is very diverse, with a number of second-language learners (predominantly Spanish & Vietnamese). I consider myself fairly aware of children's literature and library processes, but any hints that you can contribute would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
