The audience will then be allowed to ask questions. A booksigning will follow. Panel: Bryan Collier, Yumi Heo, Chris Raschka, Douglas Florian, Paul Zelinsky and more. For forty years, the nonprofit literacy organization Reading Is Fundamental has been putting books into the hands of children across America. To commemorate its fortie th anniversary, RIF has brought together forty of the most celebrated children's book illustrators working today and asked them each to re-imagine a classic book from their childhood. The result is The Art of Reading: Forty Illustrators Celebrate RIF's 40th Anniversary edited by Leonard Marcus. This collection of beautiful and captivating images and insightful essays reminds us how a child's early experiences with books can be powerful and lasting. Join us for a reception and discussion to celebrate the publication of this extraordinary collection. Noted historian, author, and critic in the field of children's literature Leonard Marcus will lead the discussion with several of the books contributors including Bryan Collier, Paul Zelinsky, Yumi Heo, Chris Raschka, and Douglas Florian. $5 suggested donation (proceeds will benefit Reading is Fundamental).
