Highly recommended:

A great resource on literature about the Gulf Coast, in this case Louisiana, is the Book Links magazine article "Louisiana: The Pelican State," in the July 2004 issue. It's a bibliographic essay with six pages of references to nonfiction, novels, picture books, etc. It has a great sidebar on Sharon Arms Doucet, a color illustration from Candace Fleming's Gator Gumbo, and much more! The attractive format and upbeat presentation will make this a fine resource. Even the ad for Margaret McMullan's How I Found the Strong is helpful in leading readers to that book, set in Mississippi during the Civil War.
