For those wishing to work with children affected by Katrina--and for others simply interested in PLACE--two books from the National Writing Project focus on getting kids to write about where they come from:
1) Writing Our Communities: Local Learning and Public Culture
2) Rural Voices: Place-Concious Education and the Teaching of Writing
