Yes, it IS romantic to think of a thing like books when people are starving. But no one would deny that
"the basics" should come first. There's more to life, though, than the basics--for all of us, not just the
"middle-upper class" .

I spent two years volunteering in local homeless shelters. Did I dish up soup to hungry homeless people? No. I came to do art projects with the kids. It was their favorite part of the day, and helped make their shelter experience more bearable.

We all need art and story. it is universal.
