"FREE SPEECH ZONE: Dangerous Books?"
Children's and young adult writers - Judy Blume, Deborah Hautzig, Robert Lipsyte, Walter Dean Myers, Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, Peter Sis, and Rita Williams-Garcia - will read from banned and challenged books to sound the alarm about a recent surge in attacks on books in schools and public libraries.
A talk by "FREE SPEECH ZONE" installation artists, Nora Ligorano and Marshall Reese, will precede the program.
September 29, 6-8 PM
Donnell Library Center Auditorium
20 West 53rd Street, New York, NY 10019
The program is sponsored by the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, the National Coalition Against Censorship, and PEN American Center. It is free and open to the public.
