I remember wishing, while reading this book, that something 'exciting' would take place. This was a very similar reaction that I had to reading the second book
(which I did not like until I finished reading the fourth book). But all of this exposition r eally enriched this book in a way that has been missing from a couple of the previous books. I really felt that this book was much more balanced with regards to character development than the previous books. Perhaps, indeed, this balance is echoing some
of the balance that adults seek and following some of the developmental patterns that children go through in the identity development aspects of their life.
I know that when I finsished this book that I felt I had a much more enriching experience than when I read the previous book. I enjoyed that the character development that filled the first part of the book really made the second part of the book meaningf ul. I agree with Diane that I was much more invested in these characters and the outcome of the action sequences than had this been just 'action packed.'

Diane Davis wrote: This is what I liked about it. I felt the last book was good, but the action was swift and I didn't get as much a chance to enjoy the characters as I had in the past. This book was more character driven, which gave me a deep pleasure in anticipating or predicting the actions of folks based on what I already knew about them. It felt like a pleasant romp with old friends...that turns into an adventure. diane
