In response to Kathy's question/observation about the abundance of fiction over nonfiction having to do with the number of women editing children books, I think no. Given the pressure in publishing to deliver larger profits, many companies do not want to publish books that have a single market...especially the "institutional market" which is seen as " small:" and incorrectly so when a book receives terrific reviews, certain awards, etc. Most publishers are now owned by huge media conglomerates that are publicly held, and the landscape in publishing dramatically changed due to pressure from the corporate parent and/or Wall Street. This may appear to be off topic but unfortunately, it is not..it has everything to do with what is/is not published. Norma Jean
