Thanks to all of you who have called our attention to the issue with PABBIS. Monica has put it all in a nutshell here, and you can rest assured that we will be looking into #2 with our university authorities this week to see what, if anything, can or should be done. We'll update you when we have more info.
In the meantime, it's time to switch gears (and topics) here, which I'll do in the next message.

There are two separate issues here.
1. The existence of PABBIS.
2. That PABBIS has taken a bunch of posts from last month's ccbcnet discussion, incorrectly identified the source (that ccbcnet is part of ALA) and stuck them on their website.
It is #2 that concerns me (as I had heard of the group before). Is this legal? I'm pretty shocked that this can be done, but perhaps I'm naive. Certainly, if a group stuck some of my material on their website (as opposed to linking to mine), mis-cited it, and then added their own negative comments, I'd be pretty uncomfortable. Folks from ccbc-net: is this okay? (Since those whose posts were taken are not identified I'm not sure they can complain directly.)
Thanks, Monica
