Hi, Roger, I am wondering if you have checked any basic tools such as Children's Catalog and Best Books for Children. Also the Horn Book Guide, which comes out twice per year and reviews and ranks almost everything, has an online site. As a library school student, you should be eligible for a 24 hour trial period. They have good subject access. These professional tools are appropriate starting places for your search. A to Zoo will also list some of the picture book biographies. Hi everyone.
I am a MLIS student at UW-Milwaukee. I am interested in working as a children's librarian. Consequently, I've orientated as many of my projects as possible to that area. For my Collections Developement class, I'm to compile a list of possible books to purchase for a specific subject/area. I've decide to look for children's books that are biographies of anyone who was (or is) a musician, composer, or singer. Any genre or time period is fine. I have found a few, but your thoughts and suggestions would be enormously appreciated. Again, it could be Rock, Folk, Classical, or Jazz. I know there are a few books out there about John Lennon, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Bach, and Mozart. To my surprise I can't find one about the Beatles! Any recommendations of children's book bios on female singers would also be appreciated.
Thank you.
Roger B.
