I want to thank Regina Pauly for pointing out the new article in Language Arts. I thought the list of recommended science authors for author studies was useful. As one of the newer crop of science writers, though, I've noticed that many of the new generation of science authors are consistently omitted from discussions of science books. A host of new science authors are putting out particularly fresh, exciting books and I hope that librarians and educators begin seeking them out as well. They include:
Sy Montgomery/Nic Bishop (THE SNAKE SCIENTIST) Donna M. Jackson (THE WILDLIFE DETECTIVES) Stephen R. Swinburne (TURTLE TIDE) Roland Smith (IN THE FOREST WITH THE ELEPHANTS) Pamela Turner (GORILLA DOCTORS) Kelly Milner Halls (WILD DOGS)
I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting, too. A veteran science writer that should also have definitely been included on the list was Dorothy Hinshaw Patent.
