physical science vs. biology

Monica, I think you're absolutely right that there are many more books about the biological sciences than the physical. I think it's partly due to demand (books about animals are always popular with kids) and partly due to a prejudice among non-scientists toward zoology. I've become keenly aware of this while serving on the advisory board of the children's magazine, Muse. The scientists on the board frequently complain about the popular obsession with "little brown furry animals."

Finally, I'm wondering if there are more books featuring biological science (esp animals) than physical? Is the latter perhaps more challenging to do?
