I can't imagine that Cabot's latest offering WON'T be a target for censors, not just for the graphic advice Lucy gives Sam, but for the decision that Sam
(who is not quite 16) ultimately reaches. It's a quite surprising turn not just for the All-American Girl series, but also for the Princess Diaries books which are generally somewhat traditional in their attitudes towards teenagers and sex. I am all for the graphic advice part, and a little wary of the other bits--still thinking them over.
I'll be using it in my dissertation, on girls and sex in YA novels, because it is so unexpected in so many ways!
