p.s. How are poops and farts ever "tastefully done."
Hmm, look what I've started. I meant tastefully done for what it is. This is all a matter of opinion, obviously. Perhaps I should refrain from elaborating on how I attempted to "tastefully" paint the poop ... actually, I will refrain. I will retract my statement. It can't be entirely tastefully done.
I don't think every author puts potty humor in their books just to sell copies! I cannot speak for all authors, but I certainly did not put the poop in my book for that reason and I will NEVER sell out! I'm thinking of my audience and that is the reason. I always put messages in my books but I don't want them to be in-your?ce. If kids can enjoy a story without being hit over the head with a message, then what's wrong with that? What's wrong with giving kids a good giggle?
I don't mean to make this discussion about my work in particular. I just wanted to use mine as an example. There are lots of books that I think are inappropriate for certain reasons. I'm not too thrilled with some of the YA titles that promote careless sex without repercussions, for example.
I love a good debate. This one is interesting. Boy am I procrastinating today!
