For most Americans, war is always somewhere else or a long time ago.-from Leda.
I think that's true of the schools, too. In 1993 I did an anti-war book, Linger, about the then current Gulf War. It was pretty much ignored. But Slap Your Sides, about a Conscientious Objector in World War II was well reviewed and there was a lot of mail.
As I read this very vigorous discussion I am amazed that homosexuals are still viewed by some as horizontal people. And unlike heterosexuals we have
"lifestyles" not lives, and somehow chose our sexual orientation.. Well, at least people my age can't blame books we read as kids, can we? There weren't any. Mekerr
