I doubt I am the only one in this community who has lost friends because they were too embarrassed to have a colonoscopy. For that reason, I do not have problems with normal bodily functions...farting, peeing, pooping...being mentioned or discussed in books for young children. In the late 60s, during my first trip to Europe, I was on a beach in southern France and surprised but ultimately pleased to see young children playing naked on the beach. Unfortunately, we in the U.S., live in a culture in which there is discomfort with our internal organs as well as normal/natural bodily functions but a bathing suit made of less than 12 inches of fabric, or a celebrity/public figure wearing a dress cut to the waist and up to the crouch is fashionable, and can start a new trend. But heaven forbid if one says fart, poop, or pee....in conversation or in a book for young children. My terrific doctor, and his wife ( also a doctor), are raising their four young children to be comfortable with their bodies and bodily functions so they will not only take good care of themselves but feel comfortable saying...I just peed and it was red, etc.

"Fuck" is a different matter...a euphemism used in ways intended to be derogatory or hostile.
