Betty--we're not all at ALA yet!) I understand that the issues we are talking about are ones about which many have strong feelings. I don't think we necessarily need to drop the GLBTQ topic, but we would ask that all of the remarks be made in the context of discussion of literature, since it is our interest in books for children and teens that brings us all together here on CCBC-Net: a starting point of common ground for all of us.
