Of course, it's unlikely that the preschool child will want to check the calculus book out of the library and, if she does, one of two things will happen. Either the book will be essentially meaningless to the child and get put aside fairly quickly. Or it will turn out that the child actually knew what she was selecting and why and she'll make something of it (maybe not what a math professor (or her parents) would make of it). I guess I don't see the harm in either case.
