How far?

In light of the current discussions concerning the place of "gay" literature in schools and libraries, it was interesting for me to see on Garrison Keillor's Writer's Almanac today that it is the anniversary of the birthday of Alan Turing, British mathematician born in 1912. He was an early pioneer in the development of the computer, and during World War II he helped break the German Enigma code for the British. Nevertheless, in 1952 he was arrested for violating British laws against homosexuality, and two years later he committed suicide. His scientific works were never completed. So are we to deny the value of his life? What a shame he can't see the books, films, newspapers and magazines that discuss homosexuality openly. What a shame that there are still those who believe that their way of life is the only legitimate way of life. Sally Derby
