I just finished reading Prom by Laurie Halse Anderson. I loved it! It is a Cinderella story set in an urban Phillie neighborhood. The voice of the main character, Ashley Hannigan, is refreshingly real. I would say that is Anderson's best quality as a writer for young adults. She makes me feel like I am in high school all over again, only the vocabulary words have changed a bit. I recommend this one highly for a good, funny story for prom season. To quote Mr. Banks the principal from Prom, "The tassel is worth the hassle."
