Leda,
This wasn't obvious to me at all. At first I was afraid to read the book because I thought it would trigger some residual 9 anxiety and so when I did finally read it I went through it fast (kind of the way I watch horror movies at home) and didn't register the black hole at all. D'oh is what I think now. How could I have missed it? I mean, I liked the book, but wasn't wowed having bought into the criticism that the voice was not consistent. Now you have helped me to see the light....umm...black hole, that is.
