You may want to limit discussion to the ALA book awards, but for information I offer the following author awards that were also a part of the ALA Youth Awards press conference:
YALSA: MARGARET A. EDWARDS AWARD honoring an outstanding contribution to young adult readers goes to the slinkster-cool Francesca Lia Block. s.htm
ALSC: LAURA INGALLS WILDER MEDAL for a substantial and lasting contribution to literature for young children was awarded to Lawrence Yep. ercurrent/wildermedalcurrent.htm
ALSC: MAY HILL ARBUTHNOT HONOR LECTURE AWARD for distinction of in the field of children's literature went to Russell Freedman, who did very nicely in the major book awards this year as well. rbuthnothonor.htm
