Heaven forfend that I might disagree with K.T. Horning--ever--or even when we served together on a Notables Comm. Experience tells me that quality of discussion depends on the comm., especially the chair. Thus, experience (again) has demonstrated that more than one Notable. comm. had a higher level of discussion than various Newby/Caldy comms.
And yes, PERHAPS the books will be remembered but I also recall some pretty good Notable discussions--pro & con--more than many of the books on the various (and seemingly endless) lists.
We may be entering dangerous territory here because for various comms., we are sworn to life long silence. (Then again, I have lived a fairly long life.)
