I enjoyed the novel Airborn by Kenneth Oppel. It is well written and has airships, pirates, shipwrecks and mysterious flying creatures. I found it hard to put down.
I also enjoyed Science Verse by Scieszka. Seems like everyone has a different favorite poem, mine is "Food Chain."
