Several of you have written to me asking for the article I was referring to. Thanks to Marsha Scherz I found that the article I read was sent to CCBC by Ruth I. Gordon (of course, who else?). In addition, Karen Kavanagh sent me a link to the study referred to in the article: Rideout, V.J., Elizabeth A. Vandewater and Ellen A. Wartella (Fall 2003).
