I know it is now December (oh my), but I have one last November-religious suggestion, which I just finished this morning: Tracy Mack's /Birdland/. Themes of faith are nestled neatly within the story of a boy exploring (and documenting) his way through loss.
And, what an excellent interplay between poetry, jazz, and adolescence!
