I was wondering if anyone understands the relationship between the ALA nomination lists for notable children's books and the major awards (Newbery, Caldecott, etc). I notice the ALA has two notable children's books 2005 nomination/discussion lists, one for discussion at the annual conference in Orlando, and a new one for discussion at the midwinter conference in Boston. Are these two lists, put together, the short list for the final notable list and all the major awards?
