Monica beat me to it -- mentioning HDM trilogy -- as always.
A new book this year which, although the focus is not quite on questioning religion, does question a clergyman's role and his relationship with his parish and family members is Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy, set in early 20th century Maine.
The relationship between Turner, the teenaged son of the new preacher in town reminisces similar relationships as portrayed in One-Eyed Cat by Paula Fox and I Will Call It George's Blues by Suzanne Newton set in a small southern town.
