I found Stephanie S. Tolan's "Ordinary Miracles" to be a moving portrayal of a boy struggling to find his own identity. The son of a fundamentalist Christian minister, Mark tries to reconcile his family's religious beliefs with the teachings of a Nobel Prize-winning geneticist whom he befriends.
Also a story about twins and family dynamics, this book would be a good choice for those trying to reconcile strong religious beliefs with scientific teachings and the reality of death and "bad things happening to good people."
