Women in History

Thanks to Ginny for the kind words about my books. The All-American Girls Professional Baseball League is an example of one female phenomenon that has made it into recent textbooks. I suspect that's partly because the women in the league succeeded (literally) at a man's game. Textbook editors seem happy to include women who break into the male sphere (such as Frances Perkins), but no one has taken the risk of overthrowing the system and starting from scratch to give women's experiences equal weight with predominantly male political history. And I suspect the relentless testing of No Child Left Behind will only make

matters worse.
