Nikki Grimes' Talkin' About Bessie tells Bessie's story from the points of view of those who knew her. Fly High!: The Story of Bessie Coleman by Louise Borden is a well-written biography. These titles show contemporary readers that throughout history, there have always been courageous women who refuse to be shot down over their ambitions!
