I loved the "All-of-a-Kind Family" series as a child. These books follow a working-class Jewish family living in New York in the early 1900s. They're interesting as both an introduction to Jewish tradition and to historical fiction. After being out of print for a while, most of them have been reissued. Readers who like the American Girl books or Scholastic's Dear America/My America series would probably enjoy this series.

Perhaps it is a reflection of a majority view, but does anyone know of any series or maybe mini-series of books that prominently features a religion other than Christianity as playing a role in the plot and characters?
(Conversations with God was one that I was able to pick out that did not have a Christian or Jewish view of diety, but that is 'non-fiction').
I think that there is a Jewish character in the Babysitter's club ( I seem to remember this from a holiday book or maybe a tv special), but that's all I can think of at this time.
