Maia, I've heard criticisms from the 'Christian Camp' on Pullman's "Dark Materials" in that they seem to be seen as anti-theistic, a sort of reverse apologetic allegory. I don't know it it's true or not, as I havent' read it. The only thing of Pullman's I've read is the first two books in his
"Sally Lockhart" series, and it was a chore to finish the second of these. The third was impossible!
