How Do Children Choose Books?

During the first half of October on CCBC-Net, we invite you to share your observations of and experiences with how children and young adults choose books to read. Do you see kids exhausting the works of an author or a genre? Do they rely on the suggestions of peers? What about the guidance of a teacher, librarian, or other adult?
What kinds of barriers do you see children struggling with as they look for books to read? Are they overwhelemd with choices? Or do they think there is nothing out there that they could possibily enjoy.
We know that the approaches children and teens take are as varied as their reading habits. What encourages you? What concerns you? Tell us what you've seen.
