I would like to emphasize what this message said - Konigsburg is a master at creating characters and settings which are clear and real to the reader and her most incredible skill is in the craft of writing, e.g.weaving the lives of characters and plot to a satisfying completion for the reader. She always manages to make me laugh and to surprise me in some way - which I love! I think students also like her theme of non-conformity. They want to "be different" and "make a difference" and she appeals to that characteristic in readers. Sue McGown St. John's School Houston, TX
