Hello all I am a graduate student in the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Alabama. I recently read my first E.L. Konigsburg book for my Materials & Services for Children class. I really enjoyed reading Mixed-up Files because I'd always wanted to read it as a child and never got around to it.
What really appealed to me about the book was the sense of independence that Claudia
& Jamie feel when they are hiding in the museum and navigating the busy streets of New York City. I think if I had read this book as a child, I would've also enjoyed their independent nature. Claudia's need to feel special and unique in some way really spoke to me- I remember having similar emotions as a preteen.
Having only read this one book of hers, I can't really speak to a special style she might have, but I do know I enjoyed her characterization of the young protagonists in Mixed-up Files.
