The conference will be held on the campus of Butler University and requires pre-registration. The Meet-the-Authors Gala (free and open to the general public) will be held at the Glendale Mall Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library January 28, 2005 from 7:00-9:00. Ted and Betsy Lewin will speak at 7:00 and Angela Shelf Medearis will speak at 8:00. The Gala will include book sales by Kids Ink Children?s Bookstore, refreshments, and autographing by all conference speakers.
The Butler University midwinter Children's Literature Conference has been held annually on Butler's campus the last Saturday in January since 1991 to encourage the writing and reading of good books for children by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and information among authors, illustrators, librarians, teachers, and the general public. According to a representative of Simon & Schuster, it is ?one of the premiere children?s literature conferences in the country.?
