Linda Sue Park will deliver the 7th annual Charlotte Zolotow Lecture, The World as Seen through Purple Eyes, on Wednesday evening, October 6, 7:30 p.m., at the Wisconsin Union Theater in the UW-Madison Memorial Union, 800 Langdon Street. Ms. Park is the author of several works of historical fiction for children and teenagers, including the A Single Shard (Clarion, 2001), winner of the 2002 Newbery Award, and When My Name Was Keoko (Clarion, 2002). This is a free public lecture sponsored by the Cooperative Children's Book Center. No tickets are required. Frequently asked questions about the Charlotte Zolotow lecture.

Francisco Jim?nez will give a free public lecture, The Immigrant Experience: The Discovery of Self, Purpose, and Place through Writing, on Friday evening, November 19, 7:30 p.m., in the On Wisconsin Room of the Red Gym, 716 Langdon Street on the UW-Madison campus. Mr. Jim?nez is the author of several acclaimed picture books and novels, including The Circuit: Stories from the Life of a Migrant Child (Houghton Mifflin, 1999), and Breaking Through (Houghton Mifflin, 2001). This lecture is part of the UW-Madison School of Education's American Education Week activities and is consponsored by the CCBC and the UW-Madison Center for Instructional Materials and Computing.
