We're beginning September--a time of transition in the lives of many childrne and families--by talking about books that address transitions children and teens face in their lives.
I can't help but think ot Anthony Browne's picture book "Changes" (U.S. edition: Knopf, 1990), in which the pending arrival of a new baby is fuel for a surreal story in which the elements of fantasy so grounded in the reality of a child's feelings--in this case, wonder about the unknown. Just what does his dad mean when he says "things are going to change around here"?
What books do you think of when you think of the themes of transition and change?
