Thanks to all who contributed to the great August disussion on read-alouds!

As always, we will use the first few days of the month for announcements on CCBC-Net. In a few days, we will launch the September discussion. Here is the schedule for September through the end of the year.

September First two weeks: Transitions. In the first half of September on CCBC-Net, we'll look at books that effectively address transitions children and teens face in their lives. What books have you used to help children and young adults deal with various types of transitions?

Second two weeks: Images of School in Literature for Children and Young Adults. In the second half of September, CCBC-Net will focus on how schools, including teachers, administrators, and staff, are depicted in books for children and teenagers.

October

First two weeks: Ho do young readers choose books? We'll spend the first half of October on CCBC-Net sharing observations and knowledge of how children choose books. How does a child or teen navigate the overwheleming number of options they may face in a library or classroom?

What role do adults play in the process?

Second two weeks: The Books of E.L. Konigsburg. We'll take a look at the highly regarded career of author E.L. Konigsburg in the second half of October on CCBC-Net.

November

First two weeks: Women's History in Books for Children and Young Adults. In the first part of November, CCBC-Net will focus on how women's history, and women's roles in history, have been treated in literature for children and teens.

Second two weeks: Religion in Books for Children and Young Adults. The second half of November, the CCBC-Net discussion will turn to books for children and teenagers about religion or featuring relgious themes or settings.

December

Favorites of the Year. Each year in December, members of the CCBC-Net community share their favorite books of the publishing year. Get ready to talk about your favorite books of 2004 for children and teenagers.
